Prime Edge Tile · Seattle & Eastside
Heated tile floors. Planned from the surface down.
Tile-related preparation and HeatMatrix membrane installation for heated bathroom floors in Seattle and the Eastside, coordinated with a properly licensed electrician.
Know the scope
A clear division of work.
A heated tile floor brings the substrate, membrane, heating components and finished tile into one assembly. Planning those layers together helps establish the scope before installation begins. Prime Edge Tile handles the tile-related preparation and HeatMatrix membrane installation, followed by the agreed tile work.
The heating cable, sensor, testing, permits, inspection and electrical connections are handled by a properly licensed electrician. Prime Edge Tile does not perform that electrical work.
Keep this division clear when requesting estimates. The tile scope and the electrician’s scope should be coordinated, including the stages that need to be completed before the tile is installed.
Below the finished surface
What we plan below the tile.
The existing floor
We assess the substrate, flatness and preparation needed for a suitable tile surface. Existing materials, doorway heights and adjacent flooring affect the plan. These decisions belong at the beginning of the project, before the finished floor height is fixed.
The membrane and tile assembly
Our scope includes installation of the HeatMatrix membrane and tile-related preparation. The selected materials and installation sequence must work together. We coordinate the tile stage with the electrician’s work rather than treating the heating components as part of our electrical scope.
The finished surface
Porcelain, ceramic, tile dimensions, grout joints and transitions all shape the finished floor. Explore our tile floor installation service for the preparation and layout details, including large-format porcelain. For walls and tub surrounds as well, see bathroom tile installation.
A coordinated installation
Plan the handoff before work starts.
Send your city, photos, approximate floor area and the flooring you have now. Tell us whether you have selected a heating system and whether an electrician is already involved. For a SunTouch heated-floor project, share the selected system details so the tile preparation and HeatMatrix scope can be discussed accurately.
We define the tile work and its relationship to the other stages before preparing the estimate. No electrical installation, testing or approval should be assumed to be included in the tile estimate.
A few useful answers
Heated floor questions.
Do you install the heating cable or connect the thermostat?
No. The heating cable, sensor, testing, permits, inspection and electrical connections belong to a properly licensed electrician. Our work is tile-related preparation, HeatMatrix membrane installation and the agreed tile finish.
Can heating be planned with a bathroom tile renovation?
Yes. Raise it early so floor height, preparation and the sequence of work can be considered together. If a shower is also included, its pan and waterproofing plan is a separate part of the installation scope.
